M. Gregor Schneider

Legal advisor for European Union law and German law to the Swiss Federal Department of Justice and Police

BIOGRAPHY

Studied law in Saarbrücken (Germany) and Salamanca (Spain).
After obtaining the German diploma for aptitude for judicial functions (second state examination), he practiced as a lawyer at the law firm Forrester, Norall & Sutton (today: White & Case) in Brussels, in Belgium.
From 1997 to 2001, he was legal advisor for European Union law and German law to the Swiss Federal Department of Justice and Police at the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law, in Lausanne, Switzerland.
In 2001, Mr. Schneider joined the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) as a lawyer in the Legal Department. In addition to representing the Office in more than 500 cases before the Court of Justice of the European Communities, he has assumed various responsibilities in various departments of the Office (cancellations division, international cooperation).
In 2020, he took on the role of Deputy Project Manager for the AfrIPI project, a European Commission project aimed at strengthening IPRs in Africa which is co-funded and implemented by the EUIPO. In this capacity, he coordinated project activities in French-speaking countries, from OAPI premises in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
In 2023, he was seconded to the EU Delegation in Yaoundé, Cameroon, as EU Regional Advisor for Intellectual Property in Africa
